Norwich Union GB & NI Junior team for World Cross Country Championships

UK Athletics today named the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Junior Team for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships to be staged in Mombasa, Kenya, on 24 March.

Junior Men: Lee Carey (Nuneaton Harriers), Adam Hickey (Southend on Sea AC), Ben Lindsay (Pendle AC), Andrew Livingstone (Thurrock Harriers), Conor McNulty (Kilbarchan AAC), Jon Pepper (Enfield and Haringey). Res: David Forrester (St Helens Sutton AC).

Junior Women: Jess Coulson (Stockport Harriers), Sian Edwards (Kettering Town Harriers), Olivia Kenney (Royal Sutton Coldfield AC), Emily Pidgeon (Gloucester AC), Charlotte Purdue (Aldershot, Farnham and District AC), Stevie Stockton (Vale Royal AC). Res: Non Stanford (Swansea Harriers).

Steph Twell, who was pre-selected, has withdrawn with a leg injury that has developed since she won the European Junior title and enjoyed success against seniors at the turn of the year. Although she is well on the way to recovery, she acknowledges she would not be at her best in time for the World Cross and believes a greater priority is to continue to receive treatment that will ensure she is fully fit for the summer season. UK Athletics fully supports her decision.

Final selections for European Athletics Indoor Championships

UK Athletics has confirmed a further 21 athletes in the second and final wave of selections for the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the European Athletics Indoor Championships, which get underway on Friday 2 March.

Highlights from the team selections include confirming full squads for the relay events, which will close the Championships in two straight finals on Sunday afternoon.

James Brewer (800m) and Amy Harris (Long Jump) join their 2006 World Junior Championships team mate Ryan Scott (60m) to make their Senior Great Britain & Northern Ireland team debut in front of a home crowd in Birmingham.
