An entertaining game at The Priory saw Burscough inflict a heavy defeat on a below-strength Wakefield Villa. Despite Burscough being on top in the first half, Villa defended heroically until Grace Maleedy put Burscough ahead. Villa equalised on the break, shortly before the interval but, with the last kick of the half, Carla Landers made it 2-1 to Burscough with a cracking goal. As the game opened up, Burscough came on stronger and were soon 4-1 ahead; Charlotte Wiggins scoring twice in as many minutes. Carla Landers then hit her second, before Man-of-the Match Hattie Ashton made it 6-1. Another 'Landers Special', in the last minute, comfortably confirmed the points, for Burscough, and gave the managerial team of Stu Ashton and Dave Hesketh a great start to what promises to be an exciting season in the u-16s.
